SDI Beginning Scuba Classes

The feeling of being weightless, of floating around almost like flying; the deep connection with mother nature as you are submerged in her womb:  these are only a few of the new sensations tht you will experience on your first dive.  70% of our planet is water, yet barely 5% of its oceans have been explored.  Scuba diving is the way to experience it and get in touch with its inhabitants.  You will enter a new environment like you have never seen before, a place of marvel that you will learn to love and to protect.

The SDI Open Water Scuba Diver course is an entry-level certification course designed to give you the necessary skills to safely conduct open water dives. Some of the many skills you will learn include buoyancy control, proper weighting, marine conservation, equipment assembly, proper dive planning, and maintenance. The course covers all the basic knowledge about equipment, physiology and the marine environment while training students to perform basic skills underwater. This course is the key to start exploring dive destinations around the globe or just in your backyard.

Please call or e-mail for a brochure with all the details--costs, etc. for our beginning scuba class.

The course consists of three parts:

  1. Academics--cover this with an enjoyable online course--at your pace.  Spend a lot less time in the classroom.
  2. Pool Diving--two fun days of diving in the pool will prepare you for your lake or ocean dives that complete the course.
  3. Lake Diving--you can complete these two days of diving here or anywhere in the world by referral.

At Heartland Scuba Center we offer each student the finest scuba diving education available which helps you to become a safe diver.
